There’s a sense of surprise, happiness and the inevitable daydreaming of how you are going to use this horsepower or cash to have some fun. Thanks Obama! But seriously, transmission issues have plagued some of the best project vehicles of all time including Project Talon and Project RH9 GT-R. Worst of all, no progress was made to find a solution at that time. While the purchase drained the savings account completely, it was money well spent. Over 40,000 street miles and 50 quarter-mile passes later, the Holinger has never let us down. SR battle has proven anything, it’s that it is entirely possible to build a high- performance, turbocharged variant of the KA24DE engine. Jeren’s turbo KA24 in his Nissan S14 delivers over 500 horsepower (2016 Update: 700hp) to the wheels on pump gas.

This VH41DE Engine adapter plate is compatible with the following transmissions. Here at Collins Performance Technologies, we strive to bring you the latest innovation and better manufacturing processes, in-turn we are able to maintain superior quality and bring the price down for you the Consumer. This adapter plate comes with the hard-to-find M14 bolts needed to fasten this adapter to the engine, however the adapter does not come with the bolts to fasten the transmission to the adapter plate. Due to the starter location, and other conflicting bolt holes, not every bolt that goes through your transmission will thread into this adapter plate, however there are plenty threaded holes to safely bolt the transmission to the adapter.

Len also modified the 350Z shifter rod and shifter bracket to minimize the overall length. Minimizing this length positioned the new shifter as close to the original position as possible. In fact, it’s only 2.5-to-3.0 inches back from its original location. This new location required extending the original shifter cutout in the transmission tunnel. Considering how far back Jeren sits in the 240SX (with the stilts that he calls legs on his 6’ 7” frame), this was probably an improvement to the ergonomics in his case. A custom aluminum flywheel is available for 225, 240 or 250mm JWT clutch systems. Looking for a clutch solution that could handle plenty of abuse, we opted for the metallic disc and 1,200 kgf 240mm pressure plate. This system has an advertised torque handling capacity of 650 lb- ft. While the turbo KA24DE is currently producing 495 lb-ft of torque, even a small shot from a nitrous oxide system might put us close to the 600 lb-ft mark. We opted for the metallic clutch to handle our abuse. Fortunately, The Driveshaft Shop built us a lightweight, high-strength aluminum driveshaft to the correct length with the correct yokes on both ends. Best of all, these guys cranked out the custom driveshaft in no time. We literally had it in our hands the same week that we ordered it. In fact, the transmission actually came in and out of the vehicle no less than a half-dozen times (we lost count somewhere along the way) and we annihilated three hydraulic release assemblies in the process. Fortunately, no one else will have to suffer the same since we found the solution to the issue and it has since been remedied. The hydraulic release assembly was originally positioned too far forward on the JWT adapter kit with our clutch combination. This was causing the release assembly to contact the clutch disc and immediately get wiped out. After pinpointing the issue and following up with measurements (and numerous checking installations), we solved the problem.

Considering that’s over three times the factory output, there is no doubt the factory transmission would be running on borrowed time. Fortunately, Jim Wolf Technology (JWT) was working on a solution that made perfect sense. It’s the six-speed transmission from the Nissan 350Z. The Nissan part number 32010-CD009 transmission is the updated and improved-synchro edition of the six-speed found in the later 350Zs. While this FS6R31A transmission isn’t a simple bolt-on replacement for the original 5-speed in the 240SX, JWT has already made some of the key pieces needed to put the 350Z’s six-speed transmission on to an SR or KA engine. However, we’ve shared what we’ve learned with JWT to hopefully accelerate the process of getting more of the components turned out. To perform the upgrade, one must source an FS6R31A transmission (new or used), the shifter bracket and shifter (new or used), shifter rod (new or used), hydraulic release assembly (new only), hydraulic release assembly hose (new or used) and a bellhousing (new or used) for an automatic transmission New 32010-CD009 transmissions include the shifter linkage and bracket. We had the transmission from Tobin’s wrecked G35 and we found the shifter bracket, shifter and hydraulic release assembly hose, along with a complete auto transmission from a 1996 240SX. We purchased the shifter rod and hydraulic release bearing new from Fontana Nissan and we embarked on a major challenge. Mesa Hose (949.645.2661) made the custom setup for us. We dropped off our 350Z transmission along with the automatic transmission bell housing from a 1996 240SX. A few days later, an 800-horsepower-capable transmission was ready for pick up. The automatic transmission bellhousing offered a factory fit to the engine while JWT’s adapter plate mated this bellhousing to the 350Z transmission. JWT’s solution allowed the 350Z transmission to be bolted in place and that proved to be half the battle.

I think this sounds like a good idea from my perspective, I am definitely going to look into it more. If anyone has anymore info, links, pictures, warnings please feel free to share with me I am a pretty open person and take advice when i get it. Engaging the clutch by releasing the clutch pedal forces, via springs, the friction disc to contact the flywheel, which causes the transmission to spin the driveshaft and tires. The clutch allows us to smoothly engage a spinning engine to a non-spinning transmission by controlling the slippage between them. The Flywheel is bolted to the crankshaft of the motor. The job of the flywheel is to cause the transmission to spin via friction from the friction disc (which bolts to the manual transmission). This part of the harness is a mechanical break in the starter circuitry interupted by the transmission itself. - Tylor Durdan) You will need it for the wiring modifications needed to install the neutral safety switch and clutch safety switch so the cruise control will work.)This is very easy, as they are clearly marked out on the firewall. Use a center punch to line it up before drilling or you'll be disappointed with the fitment. (WJ)If you are using spacers ensure that the clutch pedal assembly lines up successfully with the existing or swapped brake pedal. (WJ)This can be done two ways. 1: Run a new wire from the ignition cylinder to the starter solenoid. 2. Bypass (short)the switch.Warning! Be careful to NOT cut into the crankshaft with any tool. (WJ)The boy's over at Team Clockwork Performance use a large pipe wrench (monkey wrench) inserted into a large pipe for leverage and use a twisting motion to get the bushing out. One person holds the crank from spinning with a socket and breaker bar while the other spins the bushing enough times for it to slide off.By using this site, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

This gives us sharp edges and a clean product: no sloppy flame cuts here. Next, we machine in PERFECT fastener holes, all counter sunk to provide a zero tolerance fitment. No guess work, no measuring, simply PERFECT FITMENT. Additionally, we provide the needed bolts to install the plate. XAT Racing single handedly created the 1UZ swap market here in the USA, and along that path we have made many leaps in performance, drive-train, and ECU parts availability. Our products are CAD designed with OEM blocks and transmissions on professional equipment by industry professionals. No bad measurements, no flame cuts, no warped discs, no nonsense. This is the missing link for doing the 1UZ swap, or simply adding a manual transmission to your already existing 1UZ-FE powered vehicle (LS400, SC400, and GS400 included). Our CNC process for manufacturing the plate results in an extremely precise adapter plate, laser tight tolerances, and a focus on quality that has yielded a product that will produce less wear on the transmission and clutch. We have even seen our competitor's plate first hand being warped right out of the box. The adapter kits come with the needed pilot adapter, throwout pieces, and tapered, self centering hardware to mount and align the adapter plate itself. This is the tried and true kit from XAT Racing, except no imitations when it comes to 1UZ parts. The old style adapter plate for many years was steel.

Now, all of the JWT adapter kits provide this optimized position of the hydraulic release assembly. Since the clutch master cylinders are the same bore in both the 240SX and 350Z, the pedal adjustment can be made on the factory pedal assembly. As a result, another speed sensor from the driveshaft will need to be fed to your speedometer. If you do not have an ABS-equipped 240SX, you’ll need to mount a driveshaft speed sensor on the input yoke of your differential. Stay tuned as we’ll have a Quick Tech on the process next month. Not only does the 6-speed have triple the strength of the original 5-speed transmission, it also delivers superior performance due to its closer-ratio design. When going into Third, the engine RPM has a short drop to just 5,250 RPM. The 3-4 shift is even better as the engine starts at 5,870 RPM in Fourth. The performance spacing keeps the engine just over the peak torque RPM ensuring that auto-magic traction control is taking place. For comparison, 5th gear in the stock transmission was a little over 100 RPM lower at 2,435 RPM. Hence there isn’t a need to change the final drive to maintain nearly the same cruise RPM. This kit has been engineered specifically for the 240SX to make the installation of your LSx engine as simple as possible. Is this even a good idea or am I heading down a very bad road. I would think this would be a good alternative to an r154 since everyone seems to think these trannies are made of gold and you cant get one for less than 1k now a days. Internally same as a rb25 your biggest prob you may have to hit the firewall a bit to clear starter ( same as a rb25 swap with certain kits) and jump over to xcessive manufacturing for their z32 shifter assembly for the 240sx. Basically shortens the shifter arms to fit in stock location.I already have the motor and all the swap peices, the tranny is the last peice of the puzzle for my swap. There are rebuild kits for them, but I'm just giving you a heads up. I already have the motor and all the swap peices, the tranny is the last peice of the puzzle for my swap. If I where you I'd get everything and hold of on the shifter assembly do a test fit and see how it goes.

Well I looked up a video of someone doing a manual swap in his ls400 using a ka trans similar setup to mine and he left space between his bushing adapter and the engine. Mines flush. Also my flywheel (Collins) was a pain to go on. Again not sure if this is from me hammering the damn pilot bushing past a point and in turn making the spot where the flywheel goes on bigger. Google is great and all but talking to people that have already ran into bs before is why I ask here. Dual calipers extra doors, trans all livery, braided lines brand new Stage 4 collins clutch. 2 ka trans 2 lightweight Collins fly wheels adapter plate ect. Motor runs 122k on it Willing to trade for 350z or sell message me if serious all I can do is say no. Zero rust. On the car. Selling to buy house and pursue a new sport. Cleaning out the garage of parts that will no longer be used for my 1JZ project.I was wondering if anyone had the pin out for ECU (89661-3A080) I’ve been looking on the internet and can’t find anything. Motor and transmission are out of a 94’ Crown Majesta.

I need to know exactly what ecu to purchase to get my car running soon. I have a vvti 1uz and manual trans, already have atemu but I need to know what else I’ll need to run my car. Replicated based on the OEM spec housing to ensure perfect fitment and hassle free use for years to come. Includes 2x M8 Grade 316 Stainless Socket Cup Bolts. Selling these mounts because I didn’t realize that these wouldn’t work with stock driveshaft. Pulled from a running, wrecked 99 LS400 with the intent to use in my swap but Ive decided to stick with the older gen1 1uz. And need something stronger than the Collins stock disk and plate, but still street drivable. Anyone have part numbers or links to some good ones. This is the same adapter plate as can be found on our line of pro-series driveshafts for these vehicles. They are precision machined on centers to maintain perfect centerline and will fit onto the centering-pin that is on the factory differential flange. It's unfortunate, but I have been anticipating swapping it into a manual, and I have read that something I can do is buy a 300ZX tranny (cheaper) and buy a converting plate to make it work for my engine (KA24). Does anyone know how this can be done, or have any other information I need to know, like is this possible and are there any complications that are to be expected. And if you want to keep abs (if you have it that’s some more accessories. Also I’m not sure even if you had all of this money to do this or the fan skills to make it yourself it would be worth it performance wise.

Grassroots Performance is the only Canadian distributor to offer G-Force Performance Products, we have come together to make a complete kit that mates any Gen-3 LSX to a Nissan Z32 5-speed transmission. The Z32 transmission has proven itself to withstand high horsepower and torque in a compact package. Readily available and a fraction the price of a T56, the Z32 5-speed is a well-rounded choice to suit the needs of any RestoMod, HotRod, Racecar, or Daily Driver. This setup is being used to date on the Grassroots LS-Turbo 350z racecar.Turbo Transmission requires modification to correct starter clearance with ring gear. Don't just use this write up, use every piece of information you can find. This write up should answer pretty much all questions about manual swap in S13. Also feel free to correct me or add information and I will edit my information. Believe me, having the right tools for the job will mean the difference between two minutes and two days. Before anything comes off there are three things that need to be done: 1) Drain Transmission Fluid (To avoid a mess) 2) Remove Battery (For safety) and 3) Jack up your car and safely secure it with good jack stands. Before climbing under give the car a shake and confirm that it is on the jackstands solid. I also leave the jack under just in case and throw spare rims under just in case. 1) Remove all interior center console parts. This includes the center console, and shifter trim. This is pretty simple once you have the trim pieces gone. Just take off the little clip holding it to the shift linkage. Go back up top and remove the four screws holding the base of the shifter assembly on. First remove the four bolts holding the rear of the driveshaft to the differential. Once you get those off remove the two bolts holding the middle of the driveshaft. Six bolts and you're done. 4) Now let's unplug all the sensors on the transmission we can get to.

Let's remove these lines and plug the two holes at the bottom of the radiator. Then last remove the clamp holding the rubber piece to the radiator. Before moving on, use the longer rubber hose off one of the two cooling lines to connect the two holes at the bottom of the radiator. Makes things simple, instead of JB Welding the holes shut. There are going to be some difficult ones, so be prepared. At one point I was ready to pull the engine just to get the transmission out, but it ended up not being as bad as I thought. I suggest having at least one friend to help from the top or the bottom either holding the socket on or whatever. Having a friend help makes this process much easier. To get to the top three bellhousing bolts you will need to remove a few small things in the way. I suggest you take some pictures of how everything is near the back of the bay so that you know exactly how things went when you get around to putting things back on. I didn't have to remove much to get to the top three bolts, but I did have to move some things in the way. I guess it really just depends on how small you're hands are. For the top passenger side bolt: Remove the screws that secure the big hose going to the BMC along the top of the firewall. Pop the throttle cable out of its guides and move it out of the way as needed. To get the top center bolt out, remove the two nuts holding the transmission to the transmission mount. Place a jack underneath the rear of the transmission and jack it up until it can't go higher (Until it hits the chassis). To do this, Pull off the dust plate on the bottom front of transmission. Use a screwdriver to push the flex plate along and get to all four bolts. Once you've done this, now you can make sure the transmission is secure and remove the four bolts on the cross member. Once you remove the cross member bolts the transmission should be resting on one or two jacks.

Using the jack(s) try to move the transmission backwards slowly and it should come right out. Slowly lower it down on the jack and remove any connections off the transmission that you may have forgot. Remove the torque converter and set it with the opening facing upwards so it won't leak oil everywhere. This is the time when an impact gun would come in handy but not quite necessary. I will post a link or two so you can see different methods. Once I tried it like this, it came out without a problem. But feel free to try whatever method suits you best. This isn't very difficult as you just need a drill or angle grinder and some bits. You have to make a total of three holes in order to mount these up. Leave it plugged in, just tuck it somewhere out of the way. It comes off with one bolt, save that bolt, you will be using it to mount you're clutch bracket. First I found a drill bit just slightly bigger than the template hole, and drilled the two outer holes. The third hole took me longer just because I didn't have the proper tool(s) to make that big of a hole easily. I just used my biggest bit and kept hacking at it until it was big enough. Just mount the master cylinder up and have a friend inside car to pop on the pedal bracket. Screw on the two nuts in the engine bay for the master cylinder finger tight, then get inside the car and mount the clutch pedal bracket. So grab the bolt you had set aside and put it in to hold the bracket up. I used an angle grinder to cut the pedal with no problem. Now you're done with the pedals. 2) Wiring: This can be done later, but I chose to get it out of the way now. Keep in mind this is for S13, as S14 WILL be slightly different. Part A: For the reverse lights, all you do is find the row of three plugs on the back of the passenger engine bay fuse box. To do this, locate the plug that is underneath the row of three you were just looking at. Once you jumper them together, secure them nicely and tape them up so the weather can't get in.
